Monday is Halloween!
Have a great weekend.

Every student’s day at Lakeview starts with a Morning Meeting. Classmates greet each other, do some type of sharing and activity and read a message from their teacher. We know relationships matter! Who doesn’t want to start their day in a circle having fun with their friends?

Wear PURPLE to support our friend Alli tomorrow! :)

Students in Art left "their mark" with a small face on this collective I am Human mural. Mrs. Lange read either "The Dot" and "I Am Human" to each class and then had a discussion about the importance of making mistakes and recognizing we are all human. Isn't this beautiful?

Marilyn and Lori from the Solon American Legion Auxiliary spent some time doing the pledge with our kindergarteners and teaching them about the flag this morning!

3rd grade got to celebrate our friend Tyler being cancer free! Thank you so much to his parents for bringing cupcakes and for letting us join in this exciting day!
There was nothing better than everyone ringing their bells and chanting Tyler’s name! #solonstrong #lakeviewleaders

"Teaching writing is a matter of faith. We demonstrate that faith when we listen well, when we refer to our students as writers, when we expect them to love writing and pour their heart and soul into it." -Lucy Calkins

Staff members at Lakeview enjoyed a treat from the Woot Woot Wagon today! We appreciate the hard work they put into helping each of our students learn and grow every day! What an incredibly dedicated group of people! We are lucky at Lakeview!

Mrs. Doyle’s class was working on adding details to their writing today! Look at these kindergarten writers working hard. Keep up the good work!

Thank you staff and students for the outpouring of appreciation this morning. I absolutely love being at Lakeview and feel so blessed to lead an amazing group of people! #lakeviewleaders #principalappreciationmonth

"What works best is anything that increases the quality and number of relationships in a child's life. People, not programs, change people. -Dr. Bruce Perry

Ms. Heather’s preschool class went on a leaf hunt last week. How cute are these little explorers?!

Reminder there is No School tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 17th. Lakeview teachers will be taking part in professional learning at the building.
Enjoy the day with your students. We can't wait to see them Tuesday!

Friday the Solon Fire Department came and talked to each of our students about Fire Safety! We got to see our teachers try on all the fire gear and get a tour of a fire truck! Thank you SFD!

Mrs. Mai’s class was working on their opinion On Demand assessment today. They had lots of ideas and were hard at work.

Our scientists in Mrs. Green’s class were working on identifying liquids and solids by their properties. Students had to make a determination and have reasonings to support their arguments. Some deep learning happening this morning!

Today our 2nd and 3rd graders watched a presentation from the University of Iowa Burn Prevention Program.
Talk to your student tonight about a two way fire escape plan for each room in your house and ask them what they learned today!

Look at these responsible 3rd graders who picked up trash after the Homecoming football game on Friday night. Way to be Lakeview Leaders!

Is there a better way to end Homecoming week besides having a pep rally with the band, color guard, high school athletes and cheerleaders?!
Go Spartans!
