Welcome to the Office of Teaching & Learning.

The Solon CSD mission is to maximize achievement through exceptional teaching! This mission is illustrated across the outstanding learning opportunities provided to our students by the district's highly qualified teachers.

Our vision as a district is to graduate each and every student prepared for postsecondary success. Whether your child is in kindergarten, fifth grade, or a senior in high school, our priority is to ensure they have the knowledge, skills, and tools to be successful after high school. We want to see our students thrive regardless if they attend a two year trade school, a four year college, join the military, or jump right into the workforce.

Through the use of high quality and ongoing evidence-based professional development, our teachers are provided opportunities to learn and grow as educators; tapping into new evidence-based practices that are proven to increase student achievement as well as engage students in relevant learning experiences to prepare them as learners.

The Solon CSD teachers and administrators are in the process of reviewing and revising the district's Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum (GVC) that we provide to all students in all areas. This ongoing work will provide you as parents a guarantee that regardless of who your child has as a teacher, they will be provided an equitable educational experience to meet their individual goals and needs.

Our main priority as a district is to insure our students are provided with learning opportunities that are engaging and support the district's missions and vision that will not only prepare them for academic success while attending Solon, but to prepare them for a future of success in life!

If you have questions regarding our district's academic programming, please feel free to contact me at jlyons@solon.k12.ia.us or (319) 624-3401 extension 1352.

Yours in Education,

Dr. Josh Lyons
