Our district’s goal is to maintain a consistent property tax rate while continuing to provide our students and families with an educational advantage through:
Quality facilities
Talented teachers and staff
Strong curriculum and instruction
Meaningful and varied opportunities for all students
A look back:
In 2015, our community approved a General Obligation Bond to build a new middle school and a Center for the Arts addition at the high school. At that time, the school property tax rate was $16.35.
Since then, the district has expanded our facilites to meet needs, including:
A high school addition with a gym, science classrooms, fitness room and library
A new Intermediate School
Even with these improvements, our tax rate has remained below the 2015 rate.
In 2023, the community again supported our schools by approving a G.O. bond to:
Complete the Intermediate School with an additional wing for future growth
Remodel Lakeview Elementary
Build an indoor activity center for student activities
Construct a cost-effective administrative office space
Where we are today:
The district tax rate has remained very consistent, ranging from $16.23 to $16.28.
For the 2027 fiscal year, the proposed tax rate is $16.23. This is the maximum proposed rate, and in recent years, the final rate has come in slightly lower after final budget is submitted.
What this means for you:
While the district is committed to keeping a stable and consistent tax rate, property taxes may still change due to increases in property valuations set by Johnson County.
The Solon Community School District remains committed to being good stewards of taxpayer dollars while continuing to invest in high-quality opportunities for our students and community.
