Join the Department of Education's Bureau of Iowa College Aid and Iowa College Attainment Network (ICAN) as we jump into the FAFSA season with the unveiling of the Better FAFSA! Our third-annual FAFSA Awareness Week takes place Monday, Jan. 15 - Friday, Jan. 19. Join us throughout the week for these FAFSA-related events.

Tuesday, Jan. 16 - 5:30 p.m. Create your FSA ID and prepare for the FAFSA

The Bureau of Iowa College Aid will host a virtual walkthrough to create your StudentAid.gov account (FSA ID).

All students and contributors should have an FSA ID before completing the FAFSA. Join our College Coaches to create your account. This is a live event with the opportunity to ask questions & receive individual assistance.

Wednesday, Jan. 17 - 5:30 p.m. FAFSA Step-by-Step with ICAN

Join for a virtual walkthrough of the FAFSA in which you join and fill out the FAFSA while being led through the form by an ICAN professional. Additional FAFSA assistance will be available through the chat feature to answer specific questions and provide assistance.

Thursday, Jan. 18 - 9 a.m. High School FAFSA Resources & Summer Support

Recommended for high school counselors, CCTCs, and school leaders to learn about available FAFSA Completion Strategies, resources and how to access them through our FAFSA Toolkit Folder. We will also have a presentation by Thomata Doe on Summer Transition Associates and how they can support the final steps of the college-going process.

Virtual College Coach

Sign up for our Virtual Coach texting service to receive individualized FAFSA and college-going assistance. This is available for students and parents in grades 9-12. Additionally, we have college coaches available for virtual, one-on-one FAFSA appointments. Appointments are available days and evenings for convenience.
