Lakeview Feature Teacher: Lauren Suminski
Miss Lauren Suminski is one of our fantastic 1st grade teachers! Last month she collaborated with building instructional coach, Miss Gerk, on planning guided reading to focus on the specific goals of her students. They worked to primarily address students' phonics needs through the word work part of her lesson. Miss Suminski included explicit skill instruction, opportunities for fluent review, and application within text and writing. She also worked to emphasize the use of phoneme-grapheme connections in prompting when these students decode to support building their base of words known at sight.
