Lakeview Feature Teacher: Lauren Suminski
Miss Lauren Suminski is one of our fabulous 1st grade teachers and PLC facilitators! Over the past few weeks, Miss Suminski and Miss Gerk, Lakeview instructional coach, have collaborated on conferring within the current writing Unit of Study. They worked together to analyze her students’ On Demand writing to determine strengths and areas of conferring focus for individuals and small groups. Using her students’ data, they created a Conferring Toolkit to best support her students throughout the unit. Miss Suminski has focused her conferring on “teaching by showing/doing and not by mentioning” (learning taken from the TCRWP Writing Institute) and has had amazing results for her students!
