Lakeview Feature Teachers: Jan Johnson, Samantha Green, Wendy Wheeler, Kari Mai, Scott Bogard
Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Green, Mrs. Wheeler, Mrs. Mai, and Mr. Bogard make up the amazing second grade team at Lakeview. The team has been working with the building instructional coach on developing their understanding and implementation of a new curriculum resource, New Perspectives in math. The team utilized a 3 Act Task at the start of the unit. After giving the task, the team used student work to develop a modified learning progression for the unit that utilized and connected ideas in the New Perspectives landscapes for the unit. The team worked to discuss student work samples to develop groups of students that could use similar prompting along the progression. They purposefully grouped students and will provide all students the opportunity to engage with New Perspective tasks with targeted focus and prompting. The instructional coach has been able to co-teach and support students alongside of them within their classrooms.
This team is so collaborative and flexible. They communicate effectively and honor each other’s strengths to always create the most productive learning opportunities for all second graders! We are lucky to have them as a part of the Lakeview team!
