The Iowa Open Enrollment law permits a wide range of educational choices for students enrolled in schools in Iowa. A parent/guardian may request open enrollment to a district other than the district of residence if application deadlines and/or a good cause (as defined by law) exists.
Open enrollment is the process for parents/guardians residing in another Iowa district who want to enroll in the Solon Community School District. An application to is to be filed with the resident district by March 1 to be considered for the following year. Those enrolling in kindergarten have until September 1 to file an application for open enrollment.

Open Enrollment Process
Parents/Guardians interested in open enrolling a student(s) to the Solon Community School District must complete a digital sign-up for each student.
Note: Based upon the board-approved guidelines, open enrollment is currently closed in all grade levels. We will begin accepting applications for Kindergarten students for the 2020-2021 school year on September 15, 2019.
Transportation to and from a point on a regular school bus route of the receiving district is the responsibility of the parent/guardian, unless economic eligibility requirements are met and the receiving district is next to the resident district.
Students who open enroll in grades 9-12 must wait 90 days to participate in interscholastic contests at the varsity level. For questions on eligibility, please contact:
