Guaranteed & viable curriculum

The Solon School District's core instructional program is aligned to the Iowa Core Curriculum. A variety of evidence-based core materials and resources are used across the district to help students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare them for each grade-level and content area as well as post-secondary success.

The district has a established a rigorous design process to thoroughly examine Iowa Core content standards across each content area and grade-level in order to clearly identify those priority standards that are most essential for Solon students to know and be able to demonstrate.

This process was established to create a Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum (GVC). As a district we are committed to insuring that every student, regardless of whose classroom our students are assigned, is provided quality learning opportunities that will help them acquire the skills necessary to be successful in the time allotted. Our commitment as an educational system is to guarantee that learning will occur by providing rigorous learning experiences and differentiating those experiences to meet the needs of our students.
