Josh Lyons
Tuesday, October 29, 2019

On the evening of Monday, October 28 the school district hosted the first Mental Health Advisory Meeting in the Solon Center of the Arts lobby to share progress made towards its priorities. These priorities include providing professional development to staff to learn more about the research behind Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), efforts to implement the DESSA (a social emotional learning screener), and the district's participation in a pilot program in partnership with Grant Wood AEA to provide immediate services for your in crisis through Foundation 2.

The advisory council is made up of approximately 50 members that include parents, teachers, administrators, and community partners. The purpose of this community group is to provide the district an opportunity to engage in dialogue with stakeholders about student mental health topics in order to share and gather feedback around the district's efforts to meet the needs of ALL students.
