To Parents:

My goal as the physics and calculus teacher at SHS is to prepare your students for the rigors of collegiate math and science, as well as to provide a unique perspective on these subjects that can only be obtained by the increased instruction time allotted in the high school setting. While administering the standard curriculum, I plan to emphasize the following:

• Science as a process for questioning assumptions about the natural world
• The philosophy of science, especially in the context of tolerance and social justice
• Real-world application of mathematics
• Preparation for independent learning in college
