Solon Community School District electronic mail is the legal property of the district with no guarantee of privacy. Emails may be forwarded to school personnel who have a legitimate educational interest, including, but not limited to, board members, employees, school attorney, auditor, health professionals, and individuals serving on official school committees. Patrons of the SCSD are reminded that questions about the operation of the school should first be directed to the teacher or administrator closest to the situation. Experience has shown that this is the best procedure to get a response immediately and directly.

Dave Asprey
President
Dave Asprey was raised on a dairy farm in a rural community in southern Minnesota (West Concord). He and has wife Jill have lived in Solon since 1995. Jill is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who works in the Cedar Rapids School District and they have 3 school age children Laura, Nolan and Caleb. Dave has a BA degree in Biology from Bethel University in Minnesota, and a BS degree in medicine, a master’s degree in instructional design and technology and a PhD in education all from the University of Iowa. Dave is an associate professor and the director of the Physician Assistant Program in the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. Dave’s other interests include spending time with his wife and children, all types of sports (which includes following the Spartans, Hawkeyes, Vikings, Timberwolves and Twins) and hiking and mountain climbing.


Dean Martin
Vice President
Dean was raised on a farm near Norway, Iowa. He has lived in the Solon district since 1994. Dean and his wife Carole have four children in the district - Noelle, Marcus, Lance, and Garett. Dean received a BA in Physics from Central College in Pella, IA, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He is currently employed by Whirlpool Corp. as a Lead engineer. Dean is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. His interests include football, golf, theatre, reading, travel, and spending time with his family.


Tim Brown
Tim is the Senior Team Leader for the Cognitive Systems Engineering Team at the National Advanced Driving Simulator. Tim also has an adjunct faculty appointment in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Iowa. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 2000. Tim has two sons in the district. Tim is involved in a variety of volunteer efforts in the district and is an active member of St. Mary’s Church and BSA Troop 120.


Dick Schwab


Lianne Westcot
Lianne has lived in the Solon district since 1989. She is a graduate of Iowa State University and has worked in the design and communications field for over 25 years. She is currently self-employed. Her previous positions include Art Director at AEGON and Communications Director at Shueyville United Methodist Church. Lianne has been an active youth leader and volunteer at the Shueyville Church as well as a classroom and school volunteer at Solon. She recently served on the Governance committee. She is married to Ben and they have two daughters in the district. Her interests include spending time with her family, reading, travel, and art.

2A Football Championship game, UNI-Dome, Solon vs. Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley,
1:05 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live on KCJJ and KXIC and will be on TV Fox Channel 28.

All-State Music Festival Concert, Hilton Coliseum, Ames, 7:30 p.m.

Nov. 23 & 24:

Student Dismissal at 1:00 p.m.

K-8 Parent-Teacher Conferences, 2-7 p.m.

The 2A championship football game, Solon vs. Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley, will be held in the UNI-Dome at 1:05 p.m. Saturday, November 21st. Admission $8 school aged and up and $5 parking. Advance tickets are available in the High School office from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. through Friday.

MS Book Fair - The MS is the only building having a PTO sponsored book fair during conferences.
